Is a country in central America. It separated from Spain as part of the Federal Republic of Central America, and later became an independent country in 1841.

1. Events
- September 1896: In 1896, El Salvador, under the leadership of President Rafael ZaldÃvar, formed a short-lived union with Honduras and Nicaragua called the Greater Republic of Central America. This union aimed to strengthen the region's political and economic power but ultimately dissolved due to internal conflicts and power struggles.
- November 1898: In 1898, El Salvador gained independence from the United Provinces of Central America and became a sovereign nation.
