Mary I, also known as Mary Tudor, was the Queen of England from 1553 to 1558. She ruled during a tumultuous period in English history, marked by religious conflicts and political unrest. One of the most significant wars that occurred during her reign was the Wyatt's Rebellion in 1554, which aimed to overthrow Mary and prevent her marriage to Philip II of Spain. Another notable event was the loss of Calais, England's last possession in France, in 1558 during the French Wars of Religion. Despite her efforts to restore Catholicism and marry into a powerful alliance, Mary's reign was marred by religious persecution and ultimately ended with her death in 1558.
