Al-Mu'tamid was the Caliph of the Abbasid Caliphate, reigning from 870 to 892. During his rule, the Abbasid Caliphate faced several significant wars and revolts. One of the most important conflicts was the Zanj Rebellion, which occurred from 869 to 883. This uprising was led by enslaved Africans in southern Iraq and posed a major threat to the Abbasid rule. Another notable war was the Saffarid invasion of Iraq in 876, led by the Persian ruler Ya'qub ibn al-Layth al-Saffar. This invasion resulted in the capture of the Abbasid capital, Samarra, and marked a significant setback for Al-Mu'tamid's rule.
