Daoguang was the Emperor of the Qing Dynasty, ruling from 1820 to 1850. During his reign, he faced several significant conflicts, including the First Opium War (1839-1842) and the Taiping Rebellion (1850-1864). The First Opium War, which occurred within the calculated timespan of Daoguang's rule, was fought between China and Britain over the opium trade, resulting in China's defeat and the signing of the Treaty of Nanjing. The Taiping Rebellion, although it began in 1850, extended beyond Daoguang's reign, lasting until 1864. This rebellion was a massive civil war that challenged Qing rule and resulted in the deaths of millions of people.
