Cyaxares was a king who ruled over the Median Empire from -624 to -599. During his reign, he faced significant military challenges, including the war against the Assyrians. In -615, Cyaxares led a coalition of Babylonians, Scythians, and Medes in a successful campaign against the Assyrians, resulting in the capture of their capital, Nineveh. This victory marked the end of the Assyrian Empire and established the Medes as a dominant power in the region. Additionally, Cyaxares faced a revolt by the Lydians in -600, which he managed to suppress, further solidifying his rule over the empire.
