Egica was a King of the Visigoths who ruled from 687 to 702 in the Kingdom of the Visigoths. During his reign, the most significant war was the Visigothic Civil War, which took place from 687 to 693. This internal conflict erupted due to Egica's harsh policies towards the nobility and the church, leading to a rebellion led by Suniefred and Hilderic. The civil war ended in 693 with Egica's victory and the execution of the rebel leaders. Another notable event during Egica's rule was the ongoing conflict with the Umayyad Caliphate, which resulted in several battles and raids along the border between 691 and 702.
