Rajasinha I was the king of the Kingdom of Kandy during the period of 1581-1593. His reign was marked by several significant wars, including the Portuguese-Sinhalese War of 1582-1583 and the Sinhalese-Portuguese War of 1592-1593. These conflicts were a result of the Portuguese attempts to expand their influence in Sri Lanka and the resistance put up by Rajasinha I and his kingdom. Despite facing numerous challenges, Rajasinha I successfully defended the independence of the Kingdom of Kandy during his rule.
