Was a United Nations trust territory in Micronesia administered by the United States from 1947 to 1994 on territories formerly controlled by Japan. The Federated States of Micronesia, the Marshall Islands and Palau were granted independence whereas the Northern Mariana Islands remain under U.S. jurisidiction.
