Is a country in Western Asia that occupies the Qatar Peninsula on the northeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula in the Middle East. Qatar as a nation was founded in 1826 by the House of Thani. It was a British protectorate from 1916 to 1971, when it gained independence.
