Britain and Nicaragua signed the Treaty of Managua in January 28, 1860, which transferred suzerainty over the Caribbean coast between Cabo Gracias a Dios and Greytown to Nicaragua. The Mosquito Coast was militarly incorporated into Nicaragua in 1894. However, in 1960, the northern part was granted to Honduras by the International Court of Justice.
