Is a special administrative region of China in the western Pearl River Delta by the South China Sea. It was leased to Portugal by the Ming Dynasty in 1557. After the 1987 Sino-Portuguese Joint Declaration that called Macau a "Chinese territory under Portuguese administration", Macau was transferred to China on 20 December 1999.
