Is an island country in North America that is part of the Kingdom of Denmark. Greenland is the world's largest island. Settled a first time by Europeans in the Middle Ages and then abandoned, Greenland was occupied by Denmark-Norway from 1728 and passed to Denmark in 1814. It became an autonomous territory in 1979.
