Establishment
- January 1041: The basic features of the Tarasp castle date back to around 1040.

1. Events
- January 1178: After the end of the Tarasper rule in 1177, when Ulrich V of Tarasp entered the Marienberg monastery without children, the castle and possessions went to the diocese of Chur.
- January 1201: The castle of Tarasp was inherited by the local Reichenberg family who established the Lordship of Tarasp.
- January 1240: In 1239 Swiker von Reichenberg sold the Tarasp Lordship to Count Albert III of Tyrol.
- January 1274: After 1273 the von Matsch family managed the castle and Lordship of Tarasp.
- January 1423: Tarasp was conquered by the County of Toggenburg durign the reign of Frederick VII of Toggenburg (1422-36).
- January 1437: After the end of the reign of Frederick VII of Toggenburg (1422-36), Tarasp reverted to an independent lordship.
Disestablishment
- January 1466: Via Duke Sigismund of Tyrol, who bought the castle from the Lords of Matsch for 2000 guilders, Tarasp came into Habsburg and thus Austrian possession as a county in 1464.
