Was a state of the Holy Roman Empire in Thuringia. It was one of the many Ernestine Duchies that divided and reunited several times and that were ruled by dukes of the Ernestine line of the House of Wettin.

- January 1681: Establishment of the Saxony-Hildberghausen Duchy.

1. Events
- January 1684: Königsberg remained in the possession of the Saxon duchies for the next few centuries, namely by Saxe-Weimar until 1640, then followed by Saxe-Gotha until 1675, Saxe-Römhild until 1683 and then the Duchy of Saxe-Hildburghausen.
Disestablishment
- January 1827: With the reorganization of the Ernestine duchies in 1826 until the end of the monarchy in 1918, the town of Königsberg in Bayern belonged to the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.
