Establishment

• January 1732: The Sultanate of Damagaram was founded in 1731 by Muslim Kanouri aristocrats.

1. Events

• January 1743: The Hausa kingdom of Gobir expands to include Zinder (Niger) and Sabon Birni (Nigeria).
• January 1775: Mirriah, a city in West Africa, became the seat of an independent Sossébaki state under the rule of Bazaza, a prominent leader in the region, in 1774. The territory eventually came under the control of the Myrria Kingdom.
• February 1804: The Sokoto Caliphate was a sovereign Sunni Muslim caliphate in West Africa that was founded during the jihad of the Fulani War in 1804 by Usman dan Fodio.
• January 1841: In the 1830s, the small band of Bornu nobles and retainers conquered the Myrria kingdom.
• July 1899: Meeting on 30 July at the Battle of Tirmini, 10 km from Zinder, the well-armed Senegalese-French troops defeated the Sultan and took Damagaram's capital.
