The State of Somaliland was a short-lived independent country in the territory of present-day de facto independent Republic of Somaliland. It existed on the territory of former British Somaliland for five days between 26 June 1960 and 1 July 1960, when it merged with the formerly Italian administered Trust Territory of Somaliland to form the Somali Republic.

Establishment

  • June 1960: The State of Somaliland was a short-lived independent country in the territory of present-day de facto independent Republic of Somaliland. It was the name assumed by the former British Somaliland protectorate in the five days between June 26, 1960.
