Establishment

  • January 779: After another uprising by the Kharijites under Ibn Rustam, Abu Quna and the Malzūza-Berber Abū Ḥātim al-Malzūzī before Kairouan failed in 772, Ibn Rustam withdrew to central Algeria and founded the Rustamid emirate in Tahert.

1. Events

  • January 791: The Emirate of Tlemcen was annexed by the Rustamid dynasty.

Disestablishment

  • January 910: The dynasty governed as a Muslim theocracy for a century and a half from its capital Tiaret until the Ismaili Fatimid Caliphate destroyed it.
