1. Events

  • January 1651: The Mthethwas left the Lubombo Mountains to settle in modern-day KwaZulu-Natal, in the Nkandla region.
  • January 1781: The Mthethwa Paramountcy arose in the 18th century south of Delagoa Bay, South Africa.

Disestablishment

  • January 1817: Upon Senzangakona's death in 1816, Chaka ascended to the throne of the Zulu people with the help of Dingiswayo.
