Was a successor to the Jolof Empire after the Battle of Danki. It was located along the north bank of the Saloum River delta in modern Senegal.

Establishment

  • January 1550: After the Battle of Danki were the forces of the Jolof Empire were defeated by the rebellious vassal of Cayor, the Empire disintegrated and was reduced to a Rump state.

Disestablishment

  • January 1591: The Portuguese made contact with the kingdom in 1590. The kingdom of Saloum conquered the neighboring kingdom of Sine and controlled it for a long period.
