Is a British Overseas Territory in the southern Pacific. The Pitcairn Islanders are a the descendants of the nine Bounty (a British vessel) mutineers and their native Tahitian consorts that settled on the island in the XVIII century.
Establishment
- January 1953: In 1952, the Pitcairn Islands, which include Pitcairn, Henderson, Ducie, and Oeno Islands, became a British Overseas Territory. Previously, they were under the jurisdiction of the British High Commissioner for the Western Pacific.
