Establishment

  • January 1429: In 1359 Edo Wiemken the Elder is said to have succeeded in uniting the dominions of the three chiefs in Rüstringen, Östringen and Wangerland, who had also ended the period of so-called Frisian freedom here, under his own reign [...] From 1428 onwards the destroyed castle in Jever was rebuilt as Jever Castle and from then on served as a residence for the chiefs of the Jever dominion.
