Was an Iron Age kingdom state of the Woyo ethnic group, located in the south of Cabinda (present-day Democratic Republic of the Congo and Angola).

Establishment

  • January 1501: The Kingdom of Ngoyo was founded by Bantu-speaking people around the 15th century.

1. Events

  • January 1885: In 1884 the people of Boma were forced to grant a protectorate of their country to the International Association of the Congo, made up of European powers.
  • February 1885: The February 1885 Treaty of Simulambuco was signed between Portugal and local leaders in Cabinda, establishing Cabinda as a protectorate of the Portuguese Crown. This marked Portugal's initial claim of sovereignty over the territory.
  • February 1885: In 1885, Ngoyo signed the Treaty of Simulambuco with Portugal and became a protectorate of it.
