Was a sultanate that included the historical region of Mahra and the Guardafui Channel island of Socotra in what is now eastern Yemen.
Establishment
- January 1433: In 1432, the Ba Dujana family took control of the important coastal city of Shihr from the Rasulids, and then successfully repelled a Rasulid counterattack.

1. Events
- January 1481: Around 1480, the Mahri settled the island of Socotra and used it as a strategic base against their rivals in Hadhramaut.
- January 1508: In 1507, a Portuguese fleet commanded by Tristão da Cunha and Alfonso de Albuquerque landed on Socotra and, after a bloody battle, seized the main fortress at Suq.
- January 1512: Socotra would remain in Portuguese hands until 1511, and was abandoned by the Portuguese due to its poor strategic importance to control the Red Sea.
- January 1609: In 1608, Imam al-Mansur, the leader of the Zaidi Imamate in Yemen, regained control over the highlands and signed a 10-year truce with the Ottomans, who had been attempting to expand their influence in the region.
Disestablishment
- January 1887: In 1886 the Mahra Sultanate accepted a Protectorate Treaty with Great Britain.
