Establishment

• January 699 BC: Madytos was founded by Greek colonists around 700 BC during a wave of Greek colonization in the eastern part of the Aegean Sea, Anatolia, and along the shores of the Black Sea.

• January 559 BC: Statesman Miltiades the Elder established Athenian control over the entire peninsula of Thracian Chersonesos (Gallipoli Peninsula).
