Establishment

  • January 1501: Kwararafa Confederacy was a multiethnic state and/or confederacy centered along the Benue River valley in what is today central Nigeria.

1. Events

  • January 1536: Biu or Viyu state is founded.
  • January 1601: Jukun state founded and centered at Kwararafa.
  • February 1804: The Sokoto Caliphate was a sovereign Sunni Muslim caliphate in West Africa that was founded during the jihad of the Fulani War in 1804 by Usman dan Fodio.

Disestablishment

  • January 1841: The successor state, the Wukari Federation, was established around 1840.
