Was one of the precolonial African Great Lakes Kingdoms.

Establishment

  • January 1831: It was founded in 1830 when Omukama Kaboyo Olimi I, the eldest son of Omukama of Bunyoro Nyamutukura Kyebambe III of Bunyoro, seceded and established his own independent kingdom.

1. Events

  • January 1877: The Kingdom of Tooro is absorbed into Bunyoro-Kitara in 1876.
  • January 1892: he Kingdom of Tooro reasserted its independence in 1891.

Disestablishment

  • January 1897: In 1894 the British government declares a protectorate over Buganda. Two years later British control is extended to cover the western kingdoms of Ankole, Toro and Bunyoro.
