Was an early medieval kingdom in what is now South England, one of the polities founded by the Saxons in Post-Roman Britain. It existed from either the fifth or the sixth century CE. After intermittent periods of domains by Mercia and Wessex, it was finally absorbed by the latter.

Establishment

  • January 687: The Kingdom of Sussex was subjected to Wessex from c. 686 to 726.
