Strathclyde was one of the early medieval kingdoms of the Britons that emerged after the end of Roman Rule in Britain. It comprised the Brythonic-speaking parts of what is now southern Scotland and northern England.

1. End of Roman rule in Britannia and Armorica

The inhabitants of Britannia and Armorica expelled the Romans.

  • January 411: Strathclyde was one of the early medieval kingdoms of the Britons. The first king was Ceretic Guletic.

Disestablishment

  • January 1035: Some time after 1018 and before 1054, the kingdom of Strathclyde appears to have been conquered by the Scots, most probably during the reign of Máel Coluim mac Cináeda who died in 1034.
