  • January 401: Hotu (A Matua), son of Matua, was the first recorded king of Easter Island.

Disestablishment

  • January 1501: The eastern portion of the island belonged to the 'Otu 'Itu.
  • January 1501: By the 15th century, two confederations, hanau, of social groupings, mata, existed, based on lineage. The western and northern portion of the island belonged to the Tu'u.
