Was a Sinhalese kingdom that expanded across the island of Sri Lanka and several overseas territories, from 1055 until 1232.
Establishment
- January 1056: Polonnaruwa assumed rulership of the Ruhuna principality in the southern parts of the country in 1055.

1. Events
- January 1071: Following a seventeen-year-long campaign, Vijayabahu I of Polonnaruwa successfully drove the Chola out of the island in 1070, reuniting the country for the first time in over a century.
- January 1213: Parakrama Pandyan II was a Pandyan king who invaded the Kingdom of Polonnaruwa in the thirteenth century and ruled from 1212 to 1215 CE.
- January 1216: The Pandyan Dynasty is forced to leave Malaya Rata and Ruhuna.
Disestablishment
- January 1233: Polonnaruwa was abandoned in the 14th century and the seat of government of the Sinhalese kings was moved to Dambadeniya.
