Was an Empire that controlled territories in Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon, Libya and Chad. It was succeeded by the Bornu Empire.
Establishment
- January 701: The first historical sources tend to show that the kingdom of Kanem began forming around 700 AD under the nomadic Tebu-speaking Kanembu.
