- January 1201: Based on available maps, in 1200 the comune federale frignanese was annexed by the Reggio Emilia Commune. This marked a significant shift in power dynamics in the region, as the Reggio Emilia Commune was a prominent city-state in northern Italy during the Middle Ages.
- January 1201: Frignano becomes part of Modena.
