It emerged as one of many smaller states of the Caucasus from the disintegration of the Shamkhalate of Gazikumukh in 1642. In 1806 it became a Russian protectorate.

Establishment

  • January 1807: In 1806, Maysum, Qadi and other Tabasaran feudal lords took Russian citizenship.
