Was was a short-lived unrecognized state in South America, that seceded from Brazil twice, in 1886 and in 1905. The territories it claimed were on the border region between French Guyana and Brazil, an area were borders were not clear at the time.
Establishment
- January 1905: In 1904 a Frenchman named Adolphe Brezet self-proclaimed himself "Président de l'État libre de Counani" in the Brazilian Amapa region.
