    1. Conquests of Akbar the Great


    Expansion during the rule of Akbar the Great in the Mughal Empire.

  • January 1582: Jodhpur annexed by the Mughal Empire.

  • June 1790: Jaipur and Jodhpur, the two most powerful Rajput states, were still out of direct Maratha domination. So, Mahadji sent his general BenoĆ®t de Boigne to crush the forces of Jaipur and Jodhpur at the Battle of Patan.

    Was the partition of British India in two independent entities: India (with a Hindu majority) and Pakistan (with a Muslim majority). This included the several princely states that were dependent on the British Colony.

  • January 1948: Following Indian independence in 1947 Maharaja Hanwant Singh, the last ruler of Jodhpur state, signied the Instrument of Accession to India.

  • January 1312: Sirohi State was founded in c. 1311 by Lumbha, who conquered the area which later formed the state. In 1311, then-ruler Shivabhan established the capital of the state at Shivpuri, 3 kilometers east of the present-day town of Sirohi.

  • January 1702: During this time, Durgadas Rathore, a prominent leader of the Rathore dynasty in Jodhpur State, successfully fought against the Mughal Empire for 31 years to free Marwar from their control. His efforts ultimately preserved the Rathore dynasty's rule in the region.

  • January 1730: In 1729 Anand Singh and Rai Singh, brothers of the Maharaja of Jodhpur, captured Idar by force.

  • January 1754: The state was soon annexed by the Marathas under Damaji Gaekwad in 1753 and Anand Singh was killed in battle.

  • June 1818: The British had no role in the state's affairs until 6 January 1818, when the Raja at that time, Man Singh, entered into a subsidiary alliance, after which the Rajas of Marwar (or Jodhpur) continued as rulers of a princely state.
