  • January 673: The new king had to fight against the rebel nobles, both Aryan and Catholic, and repress the revolts of the vasconi, in the current Basque Country. However, he had above all to intervene in Septimania to fight Duke Paul, who, with the support of the local nobles, had proclaimed himself king in Narbonne, and had also obtained the support of Childeric II, Merovingian king of the Franks.
