- January 976: In 976 there was the revolt of the general Barda Sclero who had his troops appoint Basileus following the attempt by the chamberlain Basilius to remove him from the position of domestic servant of the East. The civil war lasted for another two and a half years, until May 24, 979, the day in which the final battle was fought at Pancalea, which saw the victory of Basil's troops.
