  • January 1917: 1917-1949: Revolts between Golok (also called Ngolok) nomads and Chinese Hui generals and warlords Ma Qi and Ma Bufang. Indeed, the high plateau of Qinghai (or Amdo for the Tibetans) was inhabited by a large population of Tibetan nomads organized into tribes, jealous of their autonomy.
