- January 237 BC: Taking advantage of a revolt, Rome occupied Sardinia and Corsica.
- January 240 BC: 240-238 BC: Carthage, unable to pay the Libyan and Numidian mercenaries it employed in the army, also had to suffer a widespread and bloody revolt which was put down by Hamilcar Barca.
