- June 2011: The Syrian military launched an operation in a crackdown against the rebels in Jisr al-Shughur.
- February 2012: In December 2011-January 2012, FSA took control of Jisr al-Shughur, establishing a key rebel center.
- April 2015: Jisr al-Shughur was captured in 2015 by an alliance of Salafist insurgents, including al-Qaeda's al-Nusra Front, Ahrar al-Sham, and the Turkistan Islamic Party during the Syrian Civil War.
